Mary Black
Founder. Coach
Mary has been involved with fencing since 1991 - representing New Zealand many times including a World Championships, and Commonwealth Championships in senior age group and veterans.
She loves seeing new fencers develop confidence and tactics in the sport. She continues to learn, and has competed coaching courses in Hungary, USA and Australia.
Mary is an FIE accedited Level 3 Epee Coach, FIE accedited Level 2 Foil Coach, and registered Fencing New Zealand Coach.

As a coach she has travelled to Australia with u15, u17 and u20 teams. As a fencer, she competes regularly in Australia, often on the podium for veteran epee.

Tony Lumb
Coach
Tony started as a veteran-aged fencer, working to represent NZ at the Commonwealth Championships in 2022.
He has 20 years of experience coaching target shooting in the UK from beginners up to international level along with experience of administration of the sport at national level. ​
Tony is a level 2 OFMA accredited coaching, and is a registered Fencing New Zealand Coach.
His aim is to assist all levels of athletes to achieve their full potential

Peter Kell
Coach
Peter trained as a coach in the UK, and has coached in New Zealand, Japan and the UK.
He has been involved with fencing for over 45 years as a competitor, representing NZ as a junior (epee, foil and sabre), senior (foil) and veteran athlete (epee and foil). Peter has also represented Kyoto University, Japan for four years (epee, foil and sabre).​
Peter brings a depth of international knowledge and experience to the club.
